The WEEE Directive and YOU
Implemented 1st July 2007. Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is the fastest growing element in the municipal waste stream. Many hazardous substances are used in IT equipment including lead, cadmium, mercury, phosphorous, bromine compounds and arsenic.
The WEEE directives effectively restrict former landfill usage, including CRT monitor disposal classified as Hazardous waste since 2005.
Recycling for Charities, as the recycling arm of Computers for Charities is seeking to develop National WEEE IT recycling providing environmental and community benefits, including competitive pricing as an established "not for profit" organisation.
