Press Release: Charities are credible and can save you money
May 22nd 2008
Sussex based reuse charity, "Computers for Charities" provided a £100,000 cost saving to one NHS trust and countless savings for schools, businesses and local government departments since the introduction of EU WEEE directives back in July 2007.
Chairman and founder of Computers for Charities says. It has been imperative for charities such as us to adopt and develop professional practices if we are to survive. Especially in the realms computer reuse and recycling.
CfC effectively competes in offering a full range of services to organisations in respect of WEEE disposal, certificated and fully secure data removal, etc.
Fundamental differences also exist if utilising charity services as opposed to commercial, with a genuine "win win" potential for all including environment.
CfC has been in operation from 1994, plus authorised Microsoft refurbisher they primarily support charities, schools and voluntary organisations across the UK and Overseas through IT initiatives, including the development of it’s own home grown social action and educational programmes.
Since 1994, 104 countries have benefitted from support, annually CfC receives over 150,000 enquiries seeking aid, if humanly possible a staggering 1.5 million computers would be required annually to satisfy needs.
Significant corporate support makes it possible, i.e Shell Chemicals, Superdrug, Starbucks Coffee Company, etc, combined with hands on ground experience as with CfC’s educational program " African Schools on Line" emanating from Zimbabwe or UK Prisons projects providing much experience and awareness of real needs and true functionality in respect of Computer reuse.
Natural and increasing company concerns regarding secure data removal plus WEEE implications represent a possible rationale for not pursuing reuse routes when upgrading or disposing of equipment.
Be assured charities have moved on, plus under IR 64 Corporate gift aid companies can legitimately claim tax relief on donations of goods and equipment to charities. Suitable equipment therefore can gain an extended lifespan from reuse, companies can gain financially and morally, communities and organisations gain from increased availability of company equipment.
